Sharing Stories

Here are some of the stories I’ve shared so far. Is there a question you’d like to ask, or a story you’d like to hear? Let me know.

From the marketing over coffee podcast

John and I had a lively chat about how having a background in design has influenced how I think about marketing, why it’s important to separate your transactional email from your promotional email, and why I still love email after all these years 💌 Fun fact: This episode was recorded from Brazil! 🇧🇷

Mastering Customer Engagement, Retention & Monetization

Improving customer retention, up-sell, cross-sell, and monetization has a huge impact on revenue in SaaS but it’s often ignored while the focus stays on growing top of funnel. I share my philosophy toward partnering with product and CS to drive lifecycle campaigns with real revenue impact.

From the Wildbit blog

Hiring is broken, and I was given the freedom, autonomy, and trust to ask "why?" and explore some ways to fix it. After experimenting with an open + transparent hiring process, I wrote about all the inequities, inefficiencies, and discoveries we observed along the way.

Forget the Funnel: SaaS Leadership Q&A

In this Q&A-style workshop with Gia and Claire, we talked about:

  • How to transition from a specialist role into a new leadership role

  • How to maintain sanity & clarity as a company rapidly expands

  • What to do when you're struggling in your current role... and how to recognize when it's time to move on.

The Better Product Podcast

During this conversation, I reflected on the evolution of product marketing with hosts Christian and Anna. We discussed how the role has evolved over the years, when early-stage companies should consider adding product marketing to the mix, and what elements make up the best product marketers.

Everyone Hates Marketers

In “How to Survive in a New Marketing Role Without Compromising Your Beliefs” I talked to Louis Grenier about my first few months at Wildbit. He asked me to describe those formative weeks, including how I got the job, and my priorities as a marketing leader coming into a new company.

We also covered the benefits of building relationships to get the job you want, why you should learn shut up and listen more, and how patience can be a real strength in marketing.

Seerfest 2020

At Seerfest 2020, I encouraged listeners to practice “Human-Centric Email Marketing” by sharing how the events of 2020 (a pandemic, widespread protests, presidential election, etc.) was an opportunity for brands to step up to the plate and demonstrate empathy for their audiences.
